Hello, my name is Rebecca and I have a passion for fronds and the exploration of fibers. My life has been a journey of exploration and curiosity of materials and processes. Realizing early that I wanted to be a maker and work with my hands, I started a collection of new techniques, skills and materials, ranging from woodworking to weaving and everything in between. It wasn’t until recent, I was reflecting back and realized that all my experiences are interconnected and have built upon each other.
When traveling I love exploring the flora and fauna of different regions and identifying what makes a place unique and memorable. I moved from Maryland to Savannah to attend SCAD for my Masters in Fibers, fell in love and never left. The climate, palms and people are so inspiring, pushing my work to new levels. What I have created for you stems from theories, ideas and experiments with materials and techniques over the years and it is not until now the stars have aligned and it was time for these ideas to become products. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and to not force creativity. It doesn’t hurt that I have a large and growing collection of materials (yarn, wood, paint, tools) to fuel my experimentation and exploration. Just like in nature, the best things take time. My creativity flows at its own pace and I’m along for the ride. I incorporate many techniques, tools and processes in each product, working slow and getting to know the material to ensure its true beauty comes forth. It is my pleasure to share my passion and view in the form of unique handcrafted fiber, frond and wood décor for the home. |
Interior application is my passion. From interior painting to creating woven structures on walls, texture and pattern can be applied anywhere. Process drives my passion for texture and structure. Stemming from nature, understanding how things work and the patterns created, a greater understanding is achieved. Patterns evolve developing into textures that explode into the interior.
