bio
Rebecca’s love for nature has been a constant throughout her work whether it is representational or inspirational. After graduating from the University of Delaware in 2011 with a BFA in Fine Arts and a minor in Landscape Horticulture Rebecca started her own interior painting company, Zerby Painting Co.
While she loved the exercise painting she aspired for more design skills. In 2014 she completed her Associates in Interior Design at Montgomery College. It was then that she found her true passion for fibers. Rebecca started the Masters program at SCAD in the fall of 2014.
Rebecca’s work has seen an evolution stemming from the flora of Savannah, mainly the palm. Exploring fibers interaction with space, Rebecca plans to use her accumulation of skills to pursue a career in visual display. She loves the challenge of entering a new space and completely transforming it.

statement
Walking along a path, palms of all shapes and sizes cascade up forming a canopy. Wandering through this pathway is both peaceful and meditative. As the sun hits the palm in the late afternoon, dark shadows are cast across the path. The contrast of the translucent gradients grey blacks against the creamy white sand is not sharp but hazy. We walk on patterns of blurred lines everyday: patterns that are rigid yet dissipating, like a sailboat drifting out to sea, capturing the horizon.
There is power in a single thread, of a single idea. The thread, in multiplicity, gives that individual the power and presence to transcend paradigms of spaces and ideas, creating pathways that can lead the viewer to explore and discover, grow and evolve.
